All is fair in love and war. So goes the cliche from antiquity. Well, the same could be said of doing business. As your business grows, you need to recognize and deal with business security issues that will inevitably arise in and for your company.

I always laugh when I read the statements offered up for incorporating a business in marketing pieces. They always tout incorporating as a way to protect one’s personal assets from the losses of the business. Okay, but what about the business assets? How are you going to pay your mortgage when all the assets of your business are lost in a lawsuit? It makes no sense, just like the way many businesses fail to take security seriously.

There are two types of security issues a business has to consider. The first is the caveman threat, to wit, someone physically breaking in and stealing something. This is a viable threat, but one that obviously can be dealt with through a classic security system. The idea would be to install an alarm system that alerts a security firm that an unauthorized entry has occurred so that the police and business owners may be alerted.

The second security issue that arises has to do with the key assets of the business. These assets are often comprised of business trade secrets. They exist as computer files and/or hard copies. Does your business have any method for securing these? Does it even have a policy regarding whether employees can copy said files and take them off the premises? If not, what is to keep a disgruntled employee from heading over to your competitor with your business secrets in hand in an effort to get a new job? Let’s look at a classic example.

Formula One is a form of open wheel racing. The races take place in different countries around the globe and the television audience numbers are in the hundreds of millions viewers for each race. The two big rivals are McLaren Mercedes and Ferrari. One year, a disgruntled worked from Ferrari allegedly went to Mercedes seeking a job and brought copies of a lot of the Ferrari technical data. Lawsuits and investigations flew. At the end of the day, McLaren was fined a staggering $100 million dollars and nearly barred from the championship.

This may seem an extreme example, but is it really? Give some thought to the key business assets of your company. Who has access to them? What have you done to secure them? If the answers unnerve you, they should be a call to action!

In this session you will:

1. Record your voice

2. Make a strengths list

3. Make an improvement list

4. Define who will help you.

There are many things that you can do to improve your speaking ability. I think that a necessary area to that almost always benefits the speaker is the ability to speck and influence the audience. This mini course will help in many way and we will take it a step at a time.

1. RECORD YOUR VOICE

It is invaluable to record yourself. It will give you a new perspective on how you speak and make a point. It will also be a reference for you. I use my computer and a microphone. A cassette recorder or a micro-cassette recorded will be fine. If you have a video recorder and a tripod this would also serve nicely.

I would like you to record yourself in two different ways. First, simply read from a book or magazine for one to two minutes. Then record yourself without a prepared script. Pick a topic and speak about it for 1 to 2 minutes.

These recordings will be enough for you to now evaluate yourself. An objective evaluation at this point is very important. I strongly suggest you to take it seriously and it can be insightful and fun at the same time.

The goal here is to gain insight on how others hear you. You should listen for specific things such as the way you take breaths, your pronunciation, your perceived pace of speaking. It is even good to note the number of words and then define your Words per minute speed of the voice. These records and the more you are at least one observer is a great resource for you to appreciate them.

This model, so you are going and a few jobs haljuuihasipsioh less.

Second powerful list

Many people do not like how they sound. I do not think they think they are. We do not hear other people we've heard. AnySo you understand how important it is that they think will sell the rights.

After listening to the record several times, some aspects of his record would rate. It is important that we remember most is the decision. I 10-1 scale of rates that you follow the recommendations for quality. The same rating, but the size of each appraiser to performdifferent.

o Warmth

o Command

o Professionalism

o Enthusiasm

o Showing Interest in your material

o Articulateness

o Pace

o Persuasiveness

o Pleasantness of tone

o Clarity

o Passion

o Authority

o Volume

Write down any other adjectives that come to mind.

3. MAKE AN IMPROVEMENT LIST

The next part of the process is to determine the improvements or needs. Consider the following criteria:

o Too fast or too slow

o Too loud or too soft

o Monotone

o Tentative or uncertain

o Mumbles

o Breath too loud

o Breath not paced well

o Unpleasant tone

o Strong accent

o Tired or lacking enthusiasm

o Uses non-words, such as “ah,” “uh,” “um,” or “you know”

o Too high-pitched

o Nasal

o Not relaxed

o Singsong

o Threatening

Again, list additional adjectives that come to mind.

Making lists of strengths and improvements will help you to define the things you don’t know you do well or areas you where you didn’t know you needed to improve. Identifying these is extremely valuable. Once you know your strengths, be grateful for them. Now that you have your improvements list, you are ready to advance.

4. DEFINE WHO WILL HELP YOU

As you seek to improve, enlisting the support of someone who knows you well and who you feel is easy to work with can be a big help. It may be best to have two people you can count on for comments and suggestions. Any more than two may be unnecessary.

Explain to your helpers that you would like them to listen to you or your recordings on occasion.

It is important to have a prepared script and then to speak from this script and have your supporters evaluate you. The feedback from others that are objective in evaluating your speech is an important part of the process of improvement. After evaluating your recording on your own, have two other people evaluate you as well using the same criteria. Then combine the feedback from these evaluations.

Once you have recorded yourself and with your rating and the feedback of others you will be ready to map out a plan for significant improvement.

That’s it for part 1. You are now prepared to make some progress towards improving your voice in very specific areas. You will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly you can make progress with a little focus and effort.

In part 2 we "How to correct some mistakes of pronunciation, your voice is not made according to the nature of the word."

If you’re a business owner, entrepreneur, or manager at any level, you need to know how to persuasively present your views in writing. Even if your job doesn’t require you to write formal proposals, you almost certainly must write letters, e-mails, and memos to persuade others to accept your ideas, commit to your causes, fund your projects, try your products, or buy your services.

This article presents some of the key principles of persuasive writing. The elements are essentially the same for all types of communications, so I will use the generic term proposal to encompass them all. For more detailed guidance about proposal writing, I recommend reading Persuasive Business Proposals; Writing to Win More Customers, Clients, and Contracts by Tom Sant.

Seven Elements of a Persuasive Presentation

In order to persuade others to take the actions you recommend, you must engage both their minds and their emotions. You need to present information that is understandable and accurate in a style that is thoughtful and engaging.

The exact format of your presentations will vary, but in general you will be well-advised to follow the seven steps outlined below. For shorter proposals, such as letters, memos, and e-mails, you may choose to abbreviate or skip some of these steps.

Step #1: Establish rapport.

Briefly state your reason for writing. Did someone refer you? Are you responding to a request or invitation? Whatever your reason, get to the point without fawning.

Step #2: Clearly state the problem.

People will be more receptive to your ideas when they know that you have understood their concerns. Demonstrate empathy by clearly stating their difficulty, need, issue, or point of view.

If you skip this step and launch right into your recommendation, readers of your proposal may feel skeptical and defensive. They will tend to think that you’re more interested in your agenda than in theirs, and they may be right!

Summarize what they have told you about the costs associated with the issue or problem, and add any additional thoughts that come to your mind. Paint a realistic picture and create a sense of urgency. After reading this section of your proposal, you want people to say, “It’s painful to see it in writing, but that hits the nail on the head. We need to do something now!”

Step#3: Summarize the desired outcomes

List the goals your audience wants to achieve. Make it clear that your goal is to help them accomplish their goal.

Step #4: Highlight alternative solutions.

Briefly describe any alternative solutions that are being considered or that come to your mind, and state the shortcomings of each. People will be better able to focus on your proposed solution if you first help them close their minds to the other options. And they will have more confidence in your recommendation if they know you’ve considered various courses of action.

Step #5: Recommend your solution.

Now that you have stated the problem and ruled out alternative solutions, it’s time to make your recommendation. State precisely how your idea, service, or product will solve their problem and help them attain their goals. Use positive language: “I am confident that within X months you will see …”

Step #6: Back up your claims.

Demonstrate that you can deliver what you have promised. Cite case studies, testimonials, and supporting data from other sources. Provide information about your company’s staff, management philosophy, guarantees, and past successes.

Step #7: Ask for agreement.

Clearly ask for the order, the meeting, or whatever you want. State how you will follow up. (”I will call you in a few days to schedule an appointment” or “Please sign the enclosed contract and return it to me.”)

Close warmly, but professionally. Don’t thank people for reading your proposal. Make it good, and they’ll thank You!

If you are looking for complete security for your organization, you will need a number of processes and systems. One important part of business security is the identification card. The framework of your procedures and policies are based on the ID cards printed. The ID badge is a critical element in keeping your physical assets, virtual assets and employees safe. To provide these cards for your employees, you will need a badge system so that you can implement an in house identification system. This article provides the important card printer components that you will need.

Card Printer

The ID card printer selection should be based requirements of your ID card plus the reputation of the brand of printer that is selected. The ID card printer best for your needs will print single side if you need a single side printer or dual sided if you need a double sided card. Sometimes organizations need to upgrade to a professional printer due to card requirements. If advanced security is needed on the ID or if you will print a high volume, the entry level printer will not meet your needs. There are specific printer models available for individual needs such as volume and security.

Software

Evaluate your current and future plans when making your ID card software decision. If you need to integrate printing capabilities from a network or save card database, some software brands and versions will not be best. Reputable software manufacturers provide a free trial download so you can get test whether it will fit your badge printing needs.

Camera

Employee photographs are placed on most badges. Great pictures make employees less apprehensive about wearing their card on a daily basis. Many camera options are available with each having its own limitations and advantages. Digital cameras and web cameras are both used to capture pictures for badges.

Cardstock

Custom cards are normally printed on 30 ml image grade cardstock. Recently printing on 10 ml cards and 40 ml cards have become popular. Cards that use newer security options or specialized functions are increasing. There is a sticky card that can be used as an ID card and attached to the security card allowing it to be reused if the card holder leaves the company.

Supplies

Printer ribbons, cards and cleaning kits are ongoing expenses of an ID card system. Badge holders may also be needed if the employees wear their badges.

To ensure continuous card printing, make sure that you have print ribbons and cardstock on hand. Badging supplies are available online or from your badging integrator. The card printer needs to be cleaned every 1000 prints for best printing results. Most card printers provide messaging to remind you of printer cleaning needs. A clean printer is important to its longevity.

Identification cards do not provide for the entire safe process of your Organization and nature is essential for good corporate security processes. The use of identification cards for our safety and security of the planet, to provide enhanced security for.

Consultation

Submissions should be prepared either by someone experienced in the field, or, in close consultation with an experienced person. Although time lines are often restrictive, a team approach, or at least consultation with colleagues, will help to ensure all aspects of the project have been addressed. If possible, involve proposed project participants in the process.

Ensure that the project specifications are specific and unambiguous. Clarify any confusing clues with the purchasing authority. A contact name and number should be provided in the project Brief/Specification.

Cost the project using the costing performa provided and allow for commercial costing rates. Retain this costing sheet as a record. It will form the basis of the project budget should the submission be successful.

At this point it would be useful to anticipate the staff requirements for the project and determine availability of staff.

Requires Documents

Even though there is no standard to documents required to be submitted along with tenders, following documents should be always ready for you.

Copy of the National Identity Card of the authorized signatory.

Memorandum and article of association is case of limited company or partnership deed in case of partnership firm duly attested by competent authority. Sales Tax Registration Certificate.

Certificate for ISO or equivalent standard.

Latest Income Tax Certificate. The Income Tax Certificate should be in the name of the company/individual quoting for the tender.

Details of similar works executed in last three years, document with names and postal address of clients along with copies of letters of indent, work orders, completion certificate and other documents in evidence of execution of work, percentage completed as on date and schedule of completion.

Profile of your organization.

Power of attorney in favour of the person who is signing the tender documents.

Certificate from bankers. Audited balance sheet and profit and loss account statement duly certified by a chartered accountant in practice, for the last three years.

Any other technical details/data sheet etc. related to your product range.

Import license in case of B.O.B and C & F tenders.

Agency agreement certificate in case of foreign principals.

Final Compilation

Take two copies of unmarked tender documents for compilation. Complete and compile your tender response remembering your supportive information. Check and recheck that you have completed the tender as specified by the client. Check your enclosures and affix a covering letter denoting the order of your presentation and a brief description of each item. If you are required to make your presentation within a set number of words or pages, ensure you have done so and denote the number of words or pages used.

If you consider further information on your company would be of assistance to the client, seek their written permission to include such information with your tender, but not included in the actual tender document. Check you have signed each page as required and the correct signature is on your tender. If it says signed by the Managing Director, that is what is required. Once fully satisfied that the tender presentation is complete, pass to a colleague for final checking.

Remember, more tenders are rejected because they don’t conform to the Operation costs and the desire was stuck because of the quality of provision. Duplicate files are successfully completed.

If you are early enough, you may be lucky enough to get a seat at the counter in the Bird in Hand Family Inn Restaurant in Lancaster County Pennsylvania for breakfast. However if you are late, you will most likely be ‘relegated’ to a table in the main section of the restaurant. But let me assure you that this form of ‘banishment’ is by no means a punishment. Instead of getting up close and personal with the kitchen and wait staff and exchanging words with the locals, you will be ‘forced’ Amish Buggy Byway 340 and a small body's natural path of a bird in hand to see the road in the village, Pennsylvania, the road, you can look at the video clopping.

Because of all of us in the restaurant easily, or included in the price, as the results were disappointing restaurant experience. Diving a long way from the restaurant. I'm ugly out there, I feel likeas you walk in, thanks in no small part to the aforementioned counter and the display of local arts, crafts and history books you are immediately struck by how lively it is, yes it’s busy, but not in an energy sapping headache inducing city way, more like a bustling country kind of way.

Wait staff zip back and forth between tables, exchange conversation with the patrons and make themselves heard above the hum of the diner to talk to the kitchen to check on and give orders. The patrons themselves are a virtual patchwork of the local community. Even the most casual observer will pick out local farmers, businessmen and women, families and others, who with a little imagination, at least this is how I did it, might be the local real estate agent, teacher or librarian. I was very surprised to see an Amish man sitting up at the counter in his plain clothes alongside other farmers. His presence didn’t appear to be causing any interest amongst the locals and he was probably doing nothing different to what he did every other day, having breakfast with his fellow farmers and exchanging the latest views or news on rain fall or stock feed.

The homely feel is added to by the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. All of whom wear a badge displaying how many years of service they have had in the restaurant. Very few badges showed less than ten years, several were above 15 and we even saw one which was for 26 years. The staff obviously enjoy what they are doing and could be seen engaging in their own side conversations but never seeming to lose sight of the requirements of their guests.

Have I mentioned the food yet? After all this is the reason that most will frequent a particular restaurant or eatery. Let me tell you, the food is fantastic and plentiful for very reasonable prices. Being foreigners, we particularly enjoyed the local dishes especially the desserts; and yes we did go there for more meals than just breakfast. New favourites Shoe pie – a pie and my family now for Whoopi supply are included.

Pleasant atmosphere, good food and good prices for the small local color, but not like now to close the menu? If you are using them – I feel like a dream again about the wonders heumui's Australian!

First impressions last and as far as postcards go, you only have a split second to make that impression and make your audience interested. So while postcard printing may be easy, if you find postcard design a challenge, then read on and see how these tips can make your designs more effective:

PLANNING

The first thing you should do is to determine what your purpose is in making a design. Ask yourself the following questions:

o Is this for business or is this for personal use?

o Who are your target audience?

o What is the message you want to come across?

o What is your tone?

o Do you want to be formal or casual?

o What qualities should be most appealing in the look and feel of your postcard?

o What size should you consider?

o Should it be full color or can you make do with just one?

Answering all these questions is essential for you before jumping straight into the design process. The time you spend now will help you in avoiding mistakes and making major alterations in your work later in the design process.

CHOOSE YOUR IMAGE WISELY

Imagery is very important. A picture of a mother holding a child during mother’s day will surely appeal to any woman’s maternal instinct more than any word could.

o Always keep your image simple and memorable. The most effective images are the ones that evoke emotion and feeling.

o Remember that a picture paints a thousand words. And since you do not have the space for that many words in your postcard, might as well just paint a pretty picture.

o Imagery can denote symbolical meanings, tell a story, or simply illustrate meanings that help shape your concepts for your postcard.

DON”T FORGET YOUR TEXT

While it is easier to grab attention with a strong picture than it is with text, having the right words is important for you to get the results that you want.

o A carefully placed text will enhance your image, drive your point through and sustain your audience’s attention. Treat it more like a teaser. Keep your text short, concise and direct to the point.

o Also, do not forget to choose the right type of font for your design. Typography is very important as different fonts convey different messages.

o Garamond is a classic font used to convey formal messages while Jokerman is a bit modern and adventurous. Try as much as to stick to one or two font faces in your design so as to avoid going over the top with your design.

ADD A TOUCH OF COLOR

In choosing what colors to use, always keep in mind what a particular color signifies. For example, black and white exudes class and sophistication while red indicates power and passion. Take time to know these little subtleties and it will make your design more attractive and effective as well.

NOW PRINT

It is better if you let the professionals deal with the postcard printing process. You can ask around for prices or better yet, search the internet for online printing companies. There are many online printing companies that offer a variety of services to your liking. You can even have them look and send in their suggestions about how your design should look.

It is hard to venture into a business these days and not see an employee wearing some type of badge holder to display their identification card. Lanyards are very common and utilized in many retail locations, educational facilities, hospitals and government offices. The majority of your restaurants still utilize pins, clips and magnates to attach their badge holders. These are all effective but did you know there was another method that is growing in popularity? It is the badge reel and it is for real. The badge reel will make a great home for any HID card.

Perhaps the question that just popped into your head might be; that is great but what is a badge reel? It is a product that can be attached to various parts of the uniform and be used to present an HID card upon request or need. This product is designed with a retractable cord that allows the user to pull out their card to address their need and then allow it to retract back into its holder. The proximity card is protected from daily wear and tear resting harmlessly in the badge reel. This product is most commonly attached to a belt. There are many different types of badge reels and they come in many sizes and shapes.

The badge reel is used to house a HID card or proximity card. These plastic cards can be encoded with smart card technology that allows it to be used for many purposes. Through magnetic stripes, smart chips and other innovative modern technology these cards can be easily used as part of an access control identification system or a very competent attendance control operation. If a company or organization has sensitive areas that are designated for specified eyes only than in combination with an ID system these HID cards can be used to gain access.

If an employees HID card is encoded with access control technology that said employee can walk up to a specific area and pull their card out of their badge reel and swipe it through a card reader. As long as their card has been embedded with the correct coding they will be permitted entrance. If their card has not been properly encoded they will be denied. This makes for a very effective security system. Although security always takes top priority these cards can also be used for attendance control and monitoring.

These HID cards can be encoded to be time cards. The employee enters or leaves the domain by pulling their card out of their badge reel and swiping a card reader. The card reader in combination with a complete identification card system documents the attendance habits of the employee. These cards, which are about the same size as a credit card or drivers license can be utilized as gift cards or rewards cards as well. Identification cards will continue to play a major role in our future. As long as there is a HID card in use there will be products like a badge reel to house them.
